How to love & care for your Luxurious-Locs
Shampooing
For Best Results: Use rich moisture shampoo, preferably shampoos with Shea &/or Moroccan/Argan Oil. Before washing your human hair extensions, it is best to gently comb it out to remove any tangles. Please wash with cold water. Wet your hair normally. Pour the shampoo into your hand and then apply to your hair. Massage gently. Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly. Wash your hair at least once per week to eliminate product build-up and tangles. Wash and condition the hair in the same direction as not to cause tangles. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove product build up. For example, Organix Moroccan oil products and Creme of Natural Argan Oil products work well with the hair. Conditioning Select an appropriate conditioner for your hair type and the extensions. Dryness can be a challenge and it is important to keep your hair moisturized to keep your hair soft and shiny and to prevent damage.
Apply conditioner to the middle and ends of your hair. Do not apply to the scalp or where the extensions are attached to your hair. Gently work the conditioner into your hair and leave on for five minutes. Some virgin hair is prone to tangling, use a wide-toothed comb to gently work them out from bottom to top while the conditioner is still in your hair. Rinse your hair well with lukewarm water.
Daily Maintenance
Wear a silk bonnet or sleep on a silk pillowcase. Use a vent brush!
Longevity
To help the hair last as long as possible it is important to seal the wefts using an adhesive.
How-to videos can be found on YouTube. Mane Depot weft sealer is highly recommended and that can be found online. If you are doing a sew-in installation it is important to sew-around the wefts and not sew through the wefts. Do not cut the wefts during installation unless it is absolutely necessary. The fold-over method is recommended. If you do cut the wefts it is important to seal the ends of the weft. Too much oil on the wefts themselves will break down the weft sealant so keep scalp clean and wefts clean. It is important to use a heat protectant if you plan on heat styling the hair. There are many methods to repairing damaged hair including microwaving with conditioner, bleach baths, and silicon mix. Instructions on these methods can also be found on YouTube.
